Why LESS leads to MORE in Your Journey to Better Health

less is more in your health journey

You know that feeling when a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders?

The feeling of lightening your load… of freedom?

It’s pretty amazing, right?

That feeling, of course, comes from LESS.

Less stuff, less complexity, less commitments…

This is where I see so many people go wrong when trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.

They try to solve a problem by ADDING, when they really need to be SUBTRACTING.

They try to add:

  • Extra workouts

  • Extra food prep

  • Extra morning routine rituals…

Those are all great. But the problem comes when nothing gets subtracted. When they keep adding MORE to a life that’s already over-booked.

The Brutal Path of MORE

For years I did the same thing. I was always looking for a way to do it all. To be the “yes“ person. To never let anyone down. To juggle too many balls.

In the process, I constantly let people down. I let them down when my attention was always somewhere else. I let them down when I was tired and irritable. I let them down when I was unable to be a good example.

I can tell you from experience that the path of constant ADDING, without ever subtracting, leads to frustration and burnout. Nobody’s happy in the end. Not you. Not the important people in your life. It’s a brutal path that goes in circles, under a heavy, suffocating load.

The majority of people I help are in a similar boat - stressed, overwhelmed, unsure where to begin.

Because my own health journey started from a place of burnout, I feel strongly about the power LESS when it comes to prioritizing your health and well-being.

Less isn’t easy.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that less is easy. In our fast-paced world, chock-full of things demanding our time and attention, less is a discipline.

LESS takes intentionality, focus, and commitment. Once you achieve it, the work is not done. It will swiftly clutter up again if you’re not careful.

LESS is also counter-cultural, requiring you to step up and be a leader in your own life. One who isn’t afraid to go against a culture of chronic overwhelm and do things differently.

A Challenge

So I challenge you… Instead of thinking about where you might ADD more healthy stuff,  ask yourself:

What can I subtract?

How might that lighten your load, give you room to breathe, and provide the freedom and energy needed to become that next-level version of yourself?

Let me know how it goes!

I would love to hear about your experience with subtracting in order to gain a healthier way of life. Leave me a comment below!
